Central Bank Digital Currencies
Central Bank Digital Currencies: Definitions, Potential Benefits and Challenges.
Central bank digital currencies (CBDC) seem to be a natural path to be followed by central banks around the world. However, this possibility does not come without criticism (for example, due to the risks involved). If implemented in the UK, for instance, CBDC will affect our daily life. Apart from this practical implication, it can also affect the activities of those working in the financial sector. For academics and research teams in financial firms, the controversy around this issue makes it an interesting topic for investigation.
In this context, the Central Bank Digital Currency team of the Bank of England will be presenting the key concepts in this area along with possible positive and negative consequences of the implementation of such digital money.
Tea and coffee will be provided after the event from 3.30pm to 4.30pm in the Business School Roof Terrace.
Note: there is no fee to attend this event but registration is required
